JULY 1, 2002 marked a new era for Drumderg Loyalists Flute BandKeady with the much anticipated release of their new CD entitled ‘The music of Drumderg Loyalists Flute Band Keady’
. The band decided to release the CD last year to mark the Queen’s Golden Jubilee.
Recording began in early March this year and a lot of dedication and commitment was rewarded when over 250 copies were sold at the annual burning of Lundy celebrations in Killylea on Monday, July 1, hosted by Ballyrea Boyne Defenders.
Drumderg are renowned for their innovative Blood and Thunder style and this recording will offer a variety of arrangements in traditional Orange anthems, theme tunes and hymns. The music is complimented by a high standard of snare and bass drumming which included many original rhythms and drum solos. The flute solo is taken from the theme tune ‘The Last of the Mohicans’.
The CD will be on sale on the major demonstration days, July 12 in Newtownhamilton or July 13 in Scarva, from any Drumderg band member. You can also purchase a copy from the website on www.drumderg.co.uk
